The detector is sandwiched between the motherboard and the focusing tube plate, the new version of which has alignment rings. In addition two rings of a silver based conductive elastomer are used to soften any irregularities in the surface of either the focusing tube plate or the circuit board and also ensure a good electrical connection.

Note: All circuit boards are constructed from a highly thermally conductive ceramic and are cooled entirely through their connection pins.
